Stay strong (poem)

I was the tallest in my class
and a true misathrope
I hated my life
and lived without hope

They saw I was different
so obvious it was my fault
they could smell my fear
always time for some assault

Funny rhymes on my name
my toys where always theirs
I was hiding in the basement
away from the teachers glares

In the winter always scared
never before knew how snow
could be a deadly weapon
if I dare my face show

I lost time and my language
All I did was wrong
came home with bruses
and my parents told me:

you have to stay strong

***

Just realized I've never written a poem about me being bullied in school through ages six to ten, so I just did. Kinda hurts when I think about it... cause I haven't really thought about it as "valid" somehow. Always thought they were just teasing me with harsch jokes, without actually realizing it went much deeper than that. Oh yes, writing this autobiography has really given me a new perspective of my life. I realize I remember so much more than I first thought. It's actually kinda amazing how I can awake latent memories just through writing. Things that I wanted to forget, and things that I wanted to remember but got lost along the way.
